How affiliate links work on this site
Where affiliate links appear on this site, they work like this:
- You never pay more. An affiliate link pays a small commission from the retailer’s side. The price you pay is the same as it would be if you searched for the product yourself.
- The link never changes the verdict. A tool does not get recommended because it pays, and it does not get criticized less because it pays. Where a tool is poor, the guide says so, commission or no commission.
- Not everything gets a link. Links appear only for tools genuinely worth considering. If nothing in a category is worth buying, the honest answer is “don’t buy one”, and that answer does not earn anything.
- Disclosure appears where the link is. Any article containing affiliate links will say so clearly on the article itself. You will not have to find this page to learn that an article is monetised.
- Recommendations are not a sales funnel. The point of a guide here is to help you decide whether you need a tool at all. “You probably don’t need this” is a legitimate conclusion and it stays available.
Why any of this matters
Affiliate income creates an obvious temptation: recommend the expensive thing, recommend it to everyone, and never mention the wet leaves it cannot handle.
